Exploring patterns in our personal lives...

Best Self,

In the previous email (which you can read » here), we explored the nature of patterns, and how Pattern is an essential principle of Nature. And if you followed your next step, you will have some reflections about this written in your journal.

In this email, we will apply that perspective to personal life.

Patterns in Personal Life

We can categorize your personal life patterns into two main groups:

  1. Patterns which you consciously created

  2. Patterns which you unconsciously created

The unconscious pattern group is far larger than the conscious group, and this aligns with the unconscious mind being 99% of the Whole Mind, while the conscious mind is only 1%. You can read more about that » here.

In the same way that you inherited genetic information from your parents (DNA inheritance is another example of a pattern in nature), you also inherited their patterns in the forms of behavior, psychology, belief systems, and worldview. You probably have noticed at least some ways in which you behave similarly to your parents. This is why.

Most of these patterns are absorbed and structured as internal belief systems before the age of seven years old, and most people retain these patterns for decades without making any changes to them.

If you want to create positive change in your life, you must begin with yourself. Observing the patterns you inherited from your parents is an excellent place to start, and this will be your next step.

Your Next Step

  1. Set a timer for 20 minutes and reflect on the patterns you may have inherited from your parents:

    • Think about their behavior and perspectives which are most challenging for you.

    • Think about their behavior and perspectives which you like and have benefitted you.

    • Think about how these patterns express through you in your life.

  2. Write about your reflection in your journal.

In the next email, we will continue our exploration of your personal patterns.
