Exploring the nature of patterns...

Best Self,

If you followed through with your next step from the previous email (which you can read » here), then you have some reflections about what patterns are, written in your journal.

A note about journaling: I highly recommend you practice journaling. It is an excellent way to connect the dots between your experiences, and what those experiences really mean to you. Writing by hand helps to reinforce new connections in the brain, but typing is sufficient.

Patterns Are Everywhere (and Everything)

Existence as we know it is composed of two primary forms of energy: matter, and pattern. Matter is the substance, and Pattern is the structure.

Devin Ryback

Matter, maternal, feminine.

Pattern, paternal, masculine.

This goes deep both philosophically and metaphysically, and I might go there... but not now. Although, if this interests you, please let me know by replying to this email. I am happy to go further.

I mention this because understanding the nature of patterns at such an essential level truly helps to understand how to create positive change (new patterns) in your life through hypnotherapy.

Examples of Patterns

Nature repeats: the branching of trees, tributaries of rivers, forks of a lightning strike, nerves and blood vessels of the body... This is a pattern expressing through Nature.

Devin Ryback

You too are a part of Nature, thus patterns express through you and your life. On a greater scale, patterns express throughout all of humanity, throughout all cultures, throughout all time and space.

Here is one more example of a pattern in Nature:

The ocean tides rising and falling... the sun "rising" and "falling"... the breath inhaling and exhaling.

Your Next Step

  1. Set a timer for 20 minutes and reflect on other patterns you find in Nature, yourself, and your life.

  2. Write about your reflection in your journal.

In the next email, we will explore how patterns express in our personal lives.
