What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is gaining popularity as a highly effective modality for healing the mind and body. In this post I explain both what is hypnotherapy and what hypnotherapy is used for.
Understanding Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a healing technique which utilizes the infinite creative potential of the mind to heal the body, mind, and spirit.
To understand hypnotherapy, it helps to understand the mind. And the mind is a subject matter which, to this day, scientists, psychologists, and philosophers still grapple with. Truth be told, clearer answers may be gleaned from the ancient wisdom of the various lineages reaching back thousands of years into the past... which is much too far beyond the scope of this post. So, for now, I present you with a simple model to deepen your understanding of the mind.
A Simple Model of the Mind
There are two main parts of the mind: conscious, and unconscious.
You are most familiar with the conscious mind. This is the part which you are using right now to read this post. The conscious mind likes words. It likes logic and linear thinking. It likes understanding. It lives in the brain. And it is, at most, only one percent of the mind.
The unconscious mind likes symbols and imagery. It likes intuition and nonlinear thinking. It likes feeling. And it is, at least, ninety-nine percent of the mind. The unconscious mind is always in operation, even when the conscious mind is not (for example, when you are asleep). It is always processing, sorting, and storing information. It dreams. It lives all throughout the body, and beyond.
With this simple explanation of the mind, you are now able to understand what is hypnotherapy and how it works to a much greater degree.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is unique in that it gives you access to both the conscious and the unconscious mind simultaneously. Conventional therapy and coaching techniques only access the conscious mind—only 1% of the mind. This is why, in comparison, hypnotherapy is much more effective.
Using hypnotherapy, you are able to reach beyond what you think, and into what is.
Everything you have ever experienced in your life is stored within the unconscious mind. Everything. The conscious mind only has access to bits and pieces. Hypnotherapy creates a bridge between conscious and unconscious, so that you can access the experiences within you. This is especially useful in the context of healing, where unintegrated trauma is causing all kinds of turbulence in your daily, conscious, life.
What is Hypnotherapy Used For
Hypnotherapy is used for healing. Body, mind, and spirit.
Hypnotherapy is effective for all conditions which require healing, because it grants access to the Whole Mind, and the mind is completely interconnected with the Whole Being.
There are some common use cases for hypnotherapy, including smoking cessation, body weight management, stress reduction, and chronic pain. Hypnotherapy is also useful for overcoming fears, changing unwanted habits, and integrating trauma. There are still more uses for hypnotherapy, such as improving sleep, processing grief, and easing the transition into death.
Hypnotherapy can be used to enhance performance in any field. It can be used to prepare the body and mind to give birth with less pain and greater joy, a long-term process called hypno-birthing. Hypnotherapy can be used to prepare the body and mind for surgical procedures, and to accelerate healing of physical wounds, surgical or otherwise.
If you can think of a condition which would require or desire healing, hypnotherapy can be used to heal it with great efficacy.
The body-mind connection is real. Using hypnotherapy, you can access and activate your natural ability to heal.
This is especially true in cases where modern allopathic medicine is ineffective, such as in chronic conditions which cause real pain and degradation of the body and mind.
If I were to create a list of all the conditions that hypnotherapy can be used for, it would be infinite.
And this is the true potential of the mind. Infinite.
